ALBERTA / ACCESS

Land access

A practical research workflow for agricultural public-land access. The official disposition record decides which conditions apply.

01

Locate the actual land, not only the WMU

Use the WMU map for management geography. Switch to the official recreation-access tool to investigate agricultural public-land dispositions, contacts and conditions. Resolve private land, parks and other tenures through their own sources.

02

Read the conditions for that disposition

Do not assume all public agricultural land uses the same process. Check whether advance contact is required and what dates, routes, vehicles, activities or group conditions apply. Use the current official entry, not an old screenshot.

03

Confirm and keep a useful record

Record the exact location, contact date, person or office, permitted activity, entry route and any limits. If no reply arrives where contact is required, use Alberta’s official next-step guidance rather than treating silence as approval. Recheck changes before the trip.
